Award ceremony and lecture at the department seminar, with snacks provided.

On November 19, 2024, during the 520th Veterinary Medicine Seminar, we held a lecture titled "Glamorous Toxicology Research Using Structural Science" as part of the following events:

This seminar was organized to celebrate the following five presentation awards won by students from our lab at domestic conferences during the first half of 2024:

  1. 52nd Japanese Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting - Student Poster Award: "Evaluation of Aromatic Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) Activation by Sensitizing Agents in Recycled Paper Wastewater" by Jiayan Sun, 6th-year undergraduate.
  2. 3rd Joint Meeting on Environmental Chemicals - Wellington Laboratories Award: "Evaluation of Species Differences in Susceptibility to Warfarin-Based Rodenticides via In Silico Protein Structure Analysis" by Moyu Miyamae, first-year doctoral student.
  3. SETAC Award: "Susceptibility Assessment of Introduced Rats in Ogasawara Father Island to the Rodenticide Diphacinone via Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) Analysis" by Kotaro Tanaka, 6th-year undergraduate.
  4. 157th Japanese Veterinary Medical Association Academic Meeting - Wildlife Division Excellent Presentation Award: "Prediction of Anticoagulant Rodenticide Dynamics in Wildlife Using Partial Differential Equation Modeling" by Misaki Fukumatsu, 5th-year undergraduate.
  5. Japanese Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology Society Excellent Presentation Award: "Evaluation of Testicular Toxicity in Mice due to Mixed Exposure to Nine Types of Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) at Everyday Intake Levels" by Wakana Yoshimura, 5th-year undergraduate.

In this lecture, I discussed the atmosphere of each conference and provided a brief introduction to each award-winning presentation, along with how we integrate AlphaFold2 (this year’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry winning technology) in our structural science toxicology research.

To make our department seminars more enjoyable and encourage more students and faculty to participate, the seminar committee decided to provide tea and snacks this time!

Riding this wave, the Toxicology Lab also contributed by offering handmade fondant shiratama and hand-drip coffee as a form of hospitality!!!
