Recruitment

Ph.D. Students Are Wanted!

Our laboratory welcomes Ph.D. students who are interested in research in environmental toxicology! We specialize in environmental toxicology, which is a field of so-called "translational research" that contributes to the solution of international environmental problems through research approaches.

As of 2021, environmental pollution and its impact on ecosystems, such as microplastics in the ocean, is still a serious international problem. Since these ecosystems are composed of a wide variety of organisms, it is essential to understand the differences in animal species in order to evaluate environmental toxicity.

In the field of ecotoxicology, where wildlife is the research target, researchers with a veterinary background who have knowledge of multiple animal species at the living level can be of great help.

In addition to general molecular biological methods such as PCR and cell culture, our laboratory uses a wide range of experimental methods including in vivo studies using experimental animals and in silico simulations using protein 3D structures. Therefore, even if you do not have experience in toxicology research, you can develop your research using your previous expertise and experience, and you can acquire the wide range of research knowledge and skills mentioned above through your doctoral research activities!

Comfortable research life in Towada

Towada City, where our laboratory is located, is a relatively small city with a population of 60,000 people. Towada has been committed to building a beautiful city in harmony with nature, as a ‘city of art’, but apartments around the university are quite inexpensive at 30,000-40,000 yen for a two-room apartment with a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet.

In addition, Towada is "one of Aomori Prefecture's most fiercely competitive supermarket districts" with several large supermarkets (according to the Towada City wiki page), so you should be able to enjoy a reasonable and comfortable research life here. The Shinkansen (bullet train) station (Shichinohe-Towada Station) and the airport (Misawa Airport) are within a 30-minute drive, so traveling outside of the prefecture is also quite easy.
